Love

To love anyone is to love everyone,
For there is a beauty shared amongst us –
A beauty called humanity.

Quies

Time to sleep
To drift
To ride the endless sea
Of dreams

Time to escape
To run
To leave the terrible thing
Called reality

Time to go
To play
To frolic
To enjoy what you can
Till the time is up

Time to rouse
To rise
To get away from the comfort
Of fantasy
And reenter the world of
Actuality

Dreams of my future
Dance past me, away from me,
And I can’t stop them.

I must learn, accept,
That my life is not the one
I thought it would be.

“I think you broke the blender,” Nico sighed, hands clapped over his ears to block out the loud grinding noise.

“No, it’s fine,” Caroline said, flicking it off and peering at the foamy, half-blended concoction.

“Does it always smell like burning plastic?”

Unlikely Allies

Captain Moral’s eyes widened through his emerald green mask when he recognized the woman standing next to him in the throng of protesters. “What are you doing here?”

Slapdash Poetry

Half-hearted poems
Skitter across a blank page
In desperation,

Wildly trying
To make sense of the whole from
Just one tiny part.

Not Enough

There is so much pain in the world,
And it is tearing me apart.

I hear their cries,
And my throat is raw.
I see their tears,
And wipe away my own.
I feel them crushed,
And I can’t breathe.

I open my mouth,
And nothing comes out.
I have the voice to be heard,
But not the voice to speak.

How to be an ally?
A single question,
With unending answers.

There is work to be done,
And as I watch the world,
I watch myself,
Seeking the courage –

To learn.
To change.
To fight for what’s right.

It’s funny;
My default when
I don’t know what to write
About is to write about writing.
When I am at a loss for
Words, the words I
Find are so much
Simpler.
